NEW REPORT: Iowa’s Education Challenges | News
The Iowa Department of Education is out with a new report detailing the challenges Iowa schools face.
The report, which was released Tuesday, shows a pattern of stagnation across the board, from low-achieving students to high performers.
It also shows an education gap for students whose first language is not English and students coming from lower income households.
The number of high need students in Iowa has increased, prompting the solution the department calls “response to intervention”.
The strategy is to help schools identify and diagnose learning problems quickly, customize instruction to correct the problems, and monitor student progress along the way.
