PUBLIC ART: Pacific To Altoona
Altoona will soon see a new piece of public art, to be Pacific, it’s a version of an iconic Easter Island head known as Moai.
Local award winning sculpture, John Brommel is working on molding primarily recycled nine and ten-gage-sheet-metal titling the work, Moai Dude.
The 11 foot tall, 1,800 lbs piece is to be the first in Altoona’s progressive new pirate adventure, family park to be coined “Pirate’s Cove” located at Ironwood Park (24th Street SW and 3rd Avenue SW, Altoona, Iowa).
The Ribbon Cutting & Dedication is set for 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18th.
